Road Accidents in Nigeria, Analysis and Discussion.

In this study, a road traffic accident is defined as accident which took place on the road between two or more objects, one of which must be any kind of a moving vehicle (Jha et al., 2004). Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) are increasing with rapid pace and presently these are one of the leading causes of death in developing countries.

For the purpose of this study as the topic depicts, the scope of the essay will be focused on the statistical analysis on the causes of road accidents in Nigeria. To know the relationship between bio- data factors and road accidents in Nigeria, that is, knowing if there is a relationship between age, educational background and gender on road accidents in Nigeria.

ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS Road accidents do not simply happen, they are caused. Given the fact that Nigeria has the highest road accidents rate as well as the largest number of death per 10,000 vehicles, (Sheriff, 2009), one may be tempted to believe that the level of awareness on the causes of road traffic accidents is very low among Nigerians.
